    Sears J.C. Higgins Youth Football Shoulder Pads #2426 Doak Walker Approved
    For consideration is this vintage set of youth-sized football shoulder pads numbered 2426 on the right front. These were available at Sears Roebuck and these are Doak Walker Approved (on the left front). One of the plastic guards that go between the collar bone and shoulder pad is missing (see photos) and there is no back lace. Buyer will pay Priority shipping on a large 4 pound box.     NOTE about J. C. Higgins Company:
    From 1908 until 1962, Sears, Roebuck & Company sold a wide variety of sporting goods and recreational equipment, including bicycles, golf clubs, rifles, shotguns, and revolvers under the brand name "J. C. Higgins." These products were well made and were popular with the company's historical core of rural and working-class consumers. The brand name, J. C. Higgins, was based on a real person, John Higgins who was a Sears employee.

    Ewell Doak Walker II (January 1, 1927 – September 27, 1998) was an American football player. He played college football as a halfback at Southern Methodist University (SMU), where he won the Heisman Trophy in 1948.
